And Toto too Theatre Company Announces Their World Premier Production, 'Appliance'

Denver, CO – (SEPTEMBER 19, 2005) – And Toto too Theatre Company, a women-centric Theatre and Arts company, today announced the World Premier of their inaugural production entitled, 'Appliance', written by Canadian Playwright, Lindsay Price.

'Appliance' is scheduled to open on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at The Denver Victorian Theatre; and the show will run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 until November 19, 2005. This thought provoking 3 character play about one woman's journey through Breast Cancer is destined to generate much follow-up conversation. 'Appliance' has traveled a long road of workshops, readings and awards before reaching its final destination, the stage at And Toto too.

"It took a long time to find the right doorway into 'Appliance' as I knew one thing, that I wanted the characters to laugh in the face of a dire situation, with the audience participating in an uplifting experience," says Lindsay Price, Playwright. "My ultimate hope is that the show prompts conversation about the issue, for the more doorways we can discover to communicate about breast cancer, the better."

Lindsay Price is the primary writer for her Theatre Company, Theatrefolk, an independent publisher of original and adapted scripts for High Schools. Most recently, Lindsay's play, 'Paper Thin' was published in Ten Minute Plays: Vol. 6 from the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Equally as exciting, her 'Tuna Fish Eulogy' enjoyed great festival success, sweeping the awards at this years Leverhulme Drama Festival, the North-West Divisional Finals, the Northern Area Finals, All England Festival and received 2nd overall at the National Drama Festivals Association 32nd British All-Winners Festival. Lindsay is most proud of the on-line playwriting course, The Pow Program, she created on behalf of Theatrefolk. To date, she has helped over 700 students transform their play ideas into a finished work.

"We received over 100 submissions and read the first 20 pages of each and every one, until selecting 'Appliance' as our introduction into the Denver theatre scene," says Susan Lyles, Co-founder, President and Executive Director for And Toto too Theatre Company. "We are very excited and believe this play with its light handed touch on a life changing topic will promote a more open discussion of a disease that will affect the lives of one out of eight women in the United States, according to the National Cancer Institute.

'Appliance' goes into rehearsal the week of September 12, 2005 and as it contains an adult theme, it is suggested that audience members be no younger than 13. The show will be produced and directed by Susan Lyles with Set Design by Darren Smith. The Theatre is an intimate space and seats an audience of 75. Reservations are strongly recommended and are being taken at 720-280-7058. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at the theatre on the night of attendance or in advance by mail.
