I am obsessed with discovering a visual language that creates a relationship between mankind, nature, and technology. This is to say that what I construct is not so much images of the visible world, but encompasses a philosophical vision in which womanhood is composed of an infinitely varied universe. By combining classical visual vocabularies and narratives with the modern, I continue to discover new visual metaphors and symbols that stimulate communication with the observer.
When I was sixteen and growing up in the inner-city projects, Burhan Dogancay, a well-known international painter/photographer, became my mentor. By having Mr. Dogancay as my mentor, I was able to look beyond my adverse circumstances in life and get a realistic view of other cultures, different social contexts, and multiple aesthetic approaches in an increasingly globalized universe. The result of this is my work is a culturally sensitive aesthetic immersed in the traditional past, aligned with the present, with room for the future.
